Yesterday at the Asian Championship in modern pentathlon in Kaohsiung (Chinese Taipei) the competition for youth has started.

As the head coach of Kazakhstan Vadim Chudnovsky noted, our sportsmen of this age category participate in the continental championship for the first time, after the proposition of our delegation last year at the Asian congress.

Both young men and young women took the second overall team place after South Korea, whose team currently takes 1-3 places at the World Championships. Our young men had a chance to win the first place, as they won team fencing with a great margin, and Ivan Yershov did so individually. He was the first who started the last competition, Dmitriy Koshelnik followed him. Unfortunately, they didn't manage to stay in the first three places. In the end Ivan Yershov took fourth place, Denis Tyurin - 6th, Dmitriy Koshelnik - 7th, Igor Sozinov - 12th. Among our girls Dariya Halzova performed the best, Alina Kurbatskaya and Enlik Sharipova shared 8th place, Olesya Melnikova took 10th.

In the relay both of our teams settled in the second position after South Korea.

Tomorrow adult athletes will start.
