From July 10 to 16 before the Asian Games the international pentathlon tournament "Memorial to Amangeldi Imanov" and Open tournament for the Cup of the Minister of Defense in the program of Summer Open Championship of Kazakhstan will be held in Almaty region, by reports of BNews.kz citing the organizers.
Memorial Tournament of A.Imanov is the rating and scored points in the competition will affect the selection of the XVII Summer Asian Games to be held in September this year in South Korea's Incheon.
About 60 athletes from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are total expected to participate in the competition. "This year, the two countries' participation is due to the fact that many athletes will be in Hungary at the European Championships in modern pentathlon. Asian countries are busy preparing for the upcoming Asian Games. But for our athletes, these competitions are still significant,"- said state pentathlon coach Oksana Dmitriyenko.
The final composition of the team of Kazakhstan on major Asian starts of four years will be determined after another qualifying round - Kazakhstan Cup "Tournament of the fittest", then the best Kazakhstan pentathletes will go to the World Cup.
