On September 26, the press conference on the Opening of the Asian Modern Pentathlon Championship was held in Astana.
On September 26, 2013 on the eve of the competition, a press conference was attended by the President of the International Union for Modern Pentathlon Dr. Klaus Shormann, Secretary General of the Asian Confederation Mr. Choi, the Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Sports and Physical Education Kanagatov Yelsiyar and the head coach of the national team Vadim Chudnovsky.
In his welcome address, the President of the International Union for Modern Pentathlon Dr. Klaus Shormann said: "I was in Kazakhstan, when the Asian Winter Games in 2011was held and I was surprised of the high level of organization of the competition, as well as infrastructure development. I also know that Kazakhstan has applied to host the Winter Olympic Games, and I wish you good luck with that".
Responding to the questions from journalists, the Deputy Chairman of the Agency of Sport and Physical Education Yelsiyar Kanagatov noted that "the Modern pentathlon has a great tradition in Kazakhstan. Of course, the championship will promote the development of sports in our country. We were world champions and Olympic champions, so we pay special attention to the development of pentathlon".
In his turn, the head coach of the national team of Kazakhstan Vadim Chudnovsky refrained from predictions for the coming continental championship, stressing that the rivals are very strong and we will do maximum efforts to win the prizes on Asian Championship.
