- Pavel Ilyashenko, Andrey Soldatov and Dmitriy Koshelnik participated the World Cup #1 in Colorado-Springs (the USA). Ilyashenko closed the group of ten best world sportsmen, although he could aspire to the winners' podium. Soldatov took 28th place and showed good results in four sports, but fencing was failed. Koshelnik did not reach the final, but he is still junior and it was his first international start.
World Cup #2 in Rio de Janeiro was participated by the sportsman, who will definitely reach the final, as the trip was expensive. Pavel Ilyashenko was sent in the trip. Pavel took 26th place in the final due to poor fencing results. Problems with fencing started in Almaty, and we could not solve them, although Pavel was third in fencing in the World Cup last year after two-time Olympic champion Andrey Moiseyev and World champion Aleksandr Lesun. As regards advantages, according to the results of two Cups Pavel sewed up the participation in in World Cup final, despite the fact that there 2 starts were left.
- What do you think about new sport – mixed relay?
- I talked to the UIPM president Klaus Schormann and he said that mixed relay would be probably involved into Olympic Games Program. Therefore, at World Cup #3 in Chengdu we are going to sent a team in this sport. Team composition is defined by the personal results. It is planned that the team will consist of Pavel Ilyshenko, Andrey Soldatov, Leonid Zimarev, Kseniya Aleksandrova and Arina Dzhiyenbalanova.
