BURABAY, July 10, 2025 — The picturesque landscapes of "Kazakh Switzerland" transformed into a battlefield of uncompromising sportsmanship for a few days. The UIPM Biathle/Triathle Asian Championships offered spectators everything: from the dramatic finishes of the youngest athletes to master classes from the elite of modern pentathlon.
The competition was marked by the total dominance of the Kazakhstan national team; however, guests from Japan, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan made the hosts work hard for their victories, especially in the younger age categories.
Battle of Generations: Bold Guests vs. Home Favorites
The most intense intrigue unfolded in the U11 and U13 categories. Here, spectators witnessed a thrilling duel between the schools of Kazakhstan and Japan.
In the youngest age groups, Japanese athletes demonstrated incredible preparation. The names Saito Nina and Yaba Yuito echoed over the stadium most often. In the Mixed Relays, Japanese duos operated like a single mechanism, snatching gold in both Biathle and Triathle disciplines.
However, our young batyrs (warriors) had no intention of surrendering without a fight! Mamurin Roman, Nauryzbay Aisha, and Tyrzhanov Alfinur showed true fighting character, winning medals in close-contact battles and not giving their rivals an inch.
Kazakhstan’s "Golden Storm": U15, U17, and U19
Starting from the U15 category, the course in Burabay was painted in the colors of the Kazakhstani flag. It was a demonstration of the power of the domestic pentathlon school.
In the U15 category, Sukhovolskiy Alexander and Buzurtanova Yasmina shone brightly, leaving no chance for their pursuers. In the relays, our teams worked so cohesively that the struggle was often not for the victory itself, but for the margin by which it would be achieved.
The competition among the youths in U19 turned out to be dramatic. Here we saw high-level internal rivalry: Deperschmidt Gor and Sprutov Kirill took turns stepping onto the top of the podium in different disciplines, spurring each other on to new records. Among the girls in this age group, the tone was set by Gulyayeva Alesya and Kassenova Ayazhan.
Elite and Juniors: A Master Class for Asia
In the Juniors and Seniors categories, the Kazakhstan national team confirmed its highest class. Zhanabay Arlan became a true hero of the competition among juniors and men, demonstrating phenomenal speed in both running and swimming.
Among the women, there were no equals to Petrova Yuliana and Issabayeva Anel. Their performances in individual events, and especially in relays, became the highlight of the tournament.
Special mention goes to the guests from the UAE. The experienced Alsuwaidi Saleh Mubarak and Salem Ahmad Rashed showed a worthy fight, while the international mixed teams (MIX) added a friendly atmosphere and spectacularity to the tournament.
Relay Finale
The culmination of the championship was the Mixed Relays. In the Seniors category, the duo of Issabayeva Anel / Savet Almas (in Biathle) and Issabayeva Anel / Golub Anatoly (in Triathle) literally flew through the distance, putting a bold golden period at the end of the national team's performance.
Outcome of the Asian Championships: Burabay saw the birth of new stars and the confirmation of the status of reigning champions. The Kazakhstan national team proved that it is the undisputed leader on the continent, but the growing competition from Japan in youth sports is an excellent incentive not to relax!
