From February 18 to 20 Almaty held Open Winter Championship of Kazakhstan in biathle and triathle.

The junior triathletes from Almaty showed brilliant results at the championship. Far ahead of his rivals the promising athlete Denis Tyurin (born 1995.) with the result of 14 minutes 28 seconds was on the first place. Dmitry Koshelnik (born 1994), with a technical result of 14 minutes 44 seconds took the silver medal. Dropping behind for 6 seconds (14 min. 50 sec.), Ivan Yershov (born 1994) won the third stage of the triathlon sport Olympus.

The athletes of "A" youth group not less pleased with their success in the triathlon. Semen Kotenko (born 1996) deservedly won the gold medal with a score of 15 minutes 10 seconds. The second winner was Artem Drobotov (born in 1997) with the final result in 15 minutes. 21 seconds. In the uphill sport battle Madiyar Kemelzhan (born in 1996) won the bronze with a total of 15 minutes 29 seconds.

Recently, the International Modern Pentathlon Union decided to formalize biathle and triathle i.e modern biathle, which includes swimming and running, and modern triathle (swimming, running and shooting). Biathle and triathle competitions are fundamental disciplines that make up the modern pentathlon; their success of the development was demonstrated at the Winter Championship held in Almaty.
