Team leaders of the RK pentathlon Arina Dzhiyenbalanova and Pavel Ilyashenko took fifth pride place in the mixed relay at the second stage of the World Cup, which was held in Cairo.
Total five athletes of Kazakhstan participated in the competition: Pavel Ilyashenko, Leonid Zimarev, Rustem Sabirkhuzin, Arina Dzhiyenbalanova and Kseniya Aleksandrova.
In the individual competition among males none of the Kazakhstanis got in the final of the tournament. Among women Kseniya Aleksandrova also failed to overcome the semifinal. But Arina Dzhiyenbalanova managed to get to the final and her result is ranked as 24th out of 36 passed.
"Dzhiyenbalanova showed a very good result, given the fact that she missed whole last season: she had a broken collarbone. Also, this is her first full start in adult competitions. Pasha, of course, was expected a little bit more, but it happened. Now we will adjust to the third and fourth stages of the World Cup, which will be held in China and Hungary. Ilyashenko has two more chances to get into the World Cup finals. For this he needs to get to the final part in both tournaments", - the State Coach of RK pentathlon Oksana Dmitriyenko claimed.
