“Off the boat and into the party”, in this way it is probably right to describe the performance of the national pentathletes team leader Pavel Ilyashenko. Pavel had hardly come back from World Cup #2 (taken place in Rio de Janeiro) when he at once won Kazakhstan – 2013 Open Winter Championship.
This year the winter championship in Kazakhstan seemed to be quite impressive as opposed to previous ones. South capital welcomed the sportsmen not only from Kyrgyzstan, but also from Ukraine. Moreover, there were the representatives from regions such as Taraz and Aktobe, who had participated in the competition for the first time.
At the close of all five sports Pavel gained 5872 points. It was enough for him to leave Andrey Soldatov (5868) behind. Third place was gained by Pavel Kirpulyanskiy (5712). Curiously enough, but well-experience pentathlete of our national team Rustem Sabirkhuzin (5640) gained only fourth place. Nevertheless, aforementioned sportsmen with 17380 points in common with certainty won as a team. National young team Yershov, Sobolev and Koshelnik came next with 16700 points in common. The triple was closed up by pentathletes from Kyrgyzstan (16236).
Arina Dzhiyenbalanova (5348) – the silver winner of Asia – 2012 Championship – had no match. Kseniya Aleksandrova reached second place (5036), and bronze was got by Darya Khalzova (4984). Coming for the first time in Almaty, sportsmen girls from Kyrgyzstan could not stand their ground and lost in competition.
See results of boys and juniors below.
Later Ilyashenko, Soldatov, Zimarev, Aleksandrova and Dzhiyenbalanova are going to Chengdu (China), where the World Cup #3 will take place from 17th to 21st of April.
